When I think about the word, “person centered care,” I’m reminded of an additional phrase utilized by individuals who often discover themselves counted among the minority. The expression is, “person first language.” This, for individuals who haven’t heard of this specific, puts the individual prior to the adjective, so rather than stating a handicapped individual, or maybe an autistic kid, you’d rephrase to, an individual with a child or a disability with autism.
